LACA News:
The Los Alamos Concert Association is proud to welcome world-renowned American violinist Rachel Barton Pine performing at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 11, in the Duane Smith Auditorium.
As the fourth installment of LACA’s 79th season, this concert highlights Pine’s “striking and charismatic” (The New York Times) artistry. While she often performs with the world’s foremost orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Ms. Pine will be performing solo and with a piano accompaniment in Los Alamos.
The program features a rich dialogue between classical giants and vital contemporary voices, including works by:
- Beethoven & Dvořák: Favorites of the classical repertoire.
- William Grant Still & Dolores White: Celebrated African American composers.
- Billy Childs: A modern master of jazz and classical fusion.
A Virtuoso with a Mission
Pine is celebrated not only for her dazzling technique and lustrous tone but also for her commitment to expanding the classical canon. A prolific recording artist with over 40 albums, her latest release, French Impressions, is a collaboration with Grammy Award-winning Pacifica Quartet and pianist Orion Weiss. Beyond the stage, she is an active philanthropist, leading the RBP Foundation with projects including Music by Black Composers founded in 2001.
Audience members will have the rare opportunity to hear the “ex-Bazzini, ex-Soldat” Joseph Guarnerius “del Gesù” (Cremona 1742), a historic instrument on lifetime loan to Pine from an anonymous patron.
Tickets are available in advance at www.losalamosconcert.org via Tix ($40 plus $3 online service fee) or before the concert at the Box Office ($40). Tickets for youth ages 6-18 are free. Music educators in Northern New Mexico may also register for free tickets at https://losalamosconcert.org/tickets/.
