Governor Pushes $25 Million Senior Citizen Trust Fund

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham touted a plan today to create a $25 million trust fund for senior services.

The meeting was moved to the hallway outside the Governor’s Office suite after a woman collapsed against the wall inside her office suite and state Human Services Department Secretary David Scrase, a medical doctor, rushed through the crowd to tend to her before she was wheeled away in an office chair.

‘Prepare To Care’ For Caregivers Of Alzheimer’s Patients

‘Prepare to Care’ is an eight-hour course presented by David Davis of the Memory Care Alliance.

The four-week course is for caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients.

It will provide help with: education and understanding about the disease, day to day care management, legal and financial challenges, services like in-home care, residential care, hospice, and creating a long-term plan, for not only the person living with Alzheimer’s but for the caregiver as well.

Southwestern College Art Therapy Students Host Weekly Grief And Transition Group At Senior Center

Southwestern College Art Therapy students Lauren Sherwood and Jane McConnell are hosting a weekly grief and transition group. The sessions are 2-4 p.m. Thursdays at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.
