MARLENE HENINS May 11, 2024

Marlene Henins (McClure) passed away in the early hours of Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Marlene was born in rural Roosevelt, Oklahoma to Clara (Newton) and Herman McClure. She was the eldest girl in a family of 7 kids and as such, she helped her mother manage a household.

She graduated as the valedictorian of her small high school class and after college, met the love of her life, Ivars Henins. Ivars and Marlene married on June 8 of 1960, and after completing his PhD in Physics at Johns Hopkins, they moved to Los Alamos, where they adopted and raised three children.

Marlene served her community and her church as an educator and counselor. She and good friends maintained adult bible studies in their homes and she was a leader in the lay Stephen Ministry. Marlene had a beautiful voice and sang harmony with her daughter in church.

Her youngest son recalls her presence at his baseball games. She dedicated much of her time supporting the activities and interests of her children and husband. She had a most radiant smile and supportive words for everyone she encountered.

She will be deeply missed, but we are glad that she is now with her Maker, and held in arms of love and peace.

She is survived by her husband, Ivars, her children, Rita, Mark, and Andrew Henins, (Ana), as well as four grandchildren (Elizabeth, Michael, Shantal, and Ivars) and 3 great grandchildren (Benjamin, Moana, and Erin).

A memorial service for Marlene will be held at a later time at the United Church of Los Alamos.
