Rocket From ‘Rocket Park’ Removed As County Completes Playground Project

The rocket from ‘Rocket Park’ was removed on Wednesday in White Rock as County workers complete projects at the play park and skateboard area. As part of this project, the County conducted a community survey that included color schemes for upgrading the rocket. Based on the overwhelming response, the County is now painting the rocket to match the vibrant new playground colors before returning it to the park. Los Alamos Community Foundation, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, embarks upon its next decade with a search for an executive director, one who seeks to make a lasting impact through excellent philanthropic service.

Los Alamos County Invites Community To Take Survey On Comprehensive Plan Update

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County invites residents, business owners, community partners, and members of the local workforce to participate in the Plan Los Alamos Community Survey, open through April 3.

The survey is part of the County’s 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update and will help guide future decisions related to land use, housing, transportation, infrastructure, and economic development.

Pajarito Pickleball Club Beginners Skills Clinic April 19

The Pajarito Pickleball Club will be hosting a skills clinic for beginners from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, April 19. This is an excellent opportunity for absolute beginners or those new to the game to learn a warmup to prepare for play and prevent injuries, basic skills and shots, and the foundational rules and strategies of the game.

Los Alamos County is now accepting applications for eligible candidates for appointment for two vacant seats on the Personnel Board. The vacancies are a three-year term, expiring March 31, 2029.

Interfaith Coalition’s Winter Drive Delivers 114 Boxes Of Essentials To Support Española Valley Neighbors

When 11 local congregations — large and small — joined forces for a winter collection drive to support three busy frontline aid groups in Española, generosity flowed. Over three months, a steady stream of donations from community members and faith groups filled collection boxes staged at each congregation. The SaxAtomix will present Mozart and More at Muy Salsas restaurant from 12–1 p.m., Thursday, March 12. The program will include classical ensemble pieces from Mozart and others. They will also perform humorous takes on Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and the William Tell Overture.

The Topper baseball team traveled to Santa Fe Monday the play the Capitol Jaguars in a nonconference game. It was a beautiful day for baseball, and the game was exciting to watch as the teams were well matched, and the score changed several times and ending in a 5-5 tie which prompted extra innings to settle.
