Senior Lifetime NPS Passes $10 Until Aug. 28

Bandelier Superintendent Jason Lott

BANDELIER News:

Bandelier National Monument Superintendent Jason Lott suggests anyone 62 or older and thinking about buying a National Parks Lifetime Senior Pass do so before Aug. 28 at Bandelier.

“That’s when the price of the pass will increase from $10 to $80,” Lott said. “After that, it will cost $20 a year for a senior pass or $80 for a lifetime senior pass.”

The passes grant U.S. citizens and permanent residents age 62 or older access to more than 2,000 national parks and recreational facilities, including those run by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation, the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.

Access passes for people with disabilities are free.

In addition to providing lifetime admission to the 118 parks that charge for entry, the passes provide senior discounts for services like tours and campsites. In parks that charge per-vehicle admission, the passes cover entry for all occupants in a non-commercial vehicle.

“We also suggest that local residents consider buying their annual National Parks passes at Bandelier prior to heading out on vacation,” Lott said. “Where you buy your annual or senior lifetime pass is where your money stays.”
