Commerce Department Outlines Proposed National Security Guardrails For ‘CHIPS For America’ Incentives Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Commerce today released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the guardrails included in the CHIPS Incentives Program to advance America’s technological and national security.
The national security guardrails are intended to ensure technology and innovation funded by the CHIPS and Science Act is not used for malign purposes by adversarial countries against the United States or its allies and partners.

PRC To Host Workshop With Investor-Owned Utilities On Resource Adequacy For Upcoming Peak Energy Demands
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) will hold a special workshop 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, to hear from the state’s three investor-owned utility companies (Public Service Company of New Mexico, El Paso Electric Company and Southwestern Public Service Company).
The state’s three investor-owned utility companies will discuss resource adequacy in preparation of upcoming energy demands:
- In the summer of 2023;
- The winter of 2023-2024;
- The summer of 2024;
- The winter of 2024-2025; and
- The summer of 2025.

DOE Issues Final Rule On Part 810 Civil Penalties

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Energy (DOE) has published a Final Rule in the Federal Register, establishing procedures for the assessment and imposition of civil penalties for certain violations of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.
It strengthens the Department’s ability to enforce regulations governing exports of unclassified civil nuclear technology.
