Thirty-two cadets representing the Los Alamos High School NJROTC program competed against six other schools in the Regional contest in Sahuarita, Ariz., earlier this month, earning third place overall. They earned their spot by placing first at the regional qualifiers (Area 20) meet in November.

Los Alamos High School freshman Semih Zeytun has been selected as a BigFuture Ambassador by the College Board for the 2026 spring cohort. The BigFuture Ambassador program is a community of high school students who volunteer to support their peers in planning for life after graduation.

Two Mexican Nationals Removed To U.S. To Face Federal Drug Trafficking Charges In New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE — Two Mexican nationals were removed to the United States to face federal drug trafficking charges in New Mexico.

Daniel Alfred Blanco-Joo, 39, made his initial appearance today in New Mexico after being removed from Mexico on a five-count indictment charging him with conspiracy, distribution of fentanyl, distribution of an analogue of fentanyl, and international money laundering conspiracy.

National History Day Showcase Featuring Local Students’ Projects Presented By Los Alamos Historical Society

The Los Alamos Historical Society invites the community to a National History Day Showcase from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Fuller Lodge.

U.S. Navy’s Military Sea Craft Spotlights Third Officer Joshua Bullock Of Los Alamos In Recent Edition Of ‘We Are MSC’

U.S. Navy’s Military Sea Craft (MSC) featured Los Alamos native Joshua Bullock in its “We Are MSC” Friday, Feb. 13.

Bullock is a Third Officer aboard fleet replenishment oiler USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196). He attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Long Island, New York, then joined Military Sea Lift Command in 2023 when he graduated.

Los Alamos is Bullock’s home base when he is not deployed at sea. His younger brother, Steven,  graduated from Los Alamos High School in 2022.

Bill To Curb New Mexico License Plate Data Sharing Heads To Senate Floor

An effort to restrict out-of-state agencies from using license plate camera data in New Mexico to enforce things like immigration laws or other states’ abortion bans is moving forward.
