Aquatic Center’s Olympic Pool Re-Plastering Project Closure Scheduled For Feb. 22

COUNTY News:

Since May 2025, Los Alamos County, in conjunction with contractor Lee-sure Pools, has been preparing for the Olympic Pool Re-plastering Project, and the time has finally come.

The Olympic Pool and Therapy Pool will close Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, in preparation for work to begin March 2. The pools will remain closed until construction is completed – anticipated in October 2026.

Duplicate Bridge In Los Alamos: January 28, 2026

BRIDGE News:

The Los Alamos Duplicate Bridge Club is hosting a rare team game on Wednesday, Feb. 4. It appears that at least 7 teams will be participating, including two from Santa Fe. Following the holiday break, attendance has been good.

Adam Wadlinger and Randy Baker were both open and flight B winners on Monday. Jerry Fleming and Neill Goltz were flight A winners on Wednesday.  Bev and Martin Cooper were high in flight B.

County To Host Listening Session On Dinosaur Park Feb. 5

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County is planning improvements to the San Ildefonso (Dinosaur Park) playground and invites the community to share input.

The County will hold a listening session for the community at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Fuller Lodge.

There is also a Zoom option to learn about the project, review early design concepts, and help shape an accessible, inclusive, and welcoming play space.

Unsafe Ice Conditions Close Monastery Lake To Fishing

NMDGF News:

PECOS — The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) announces that Monastery Lake has been closed to fishing until further notice due to unsafe ice conditions.

Ice fishing is not allowed at Monastery Lake. The lake, which is leased through the Department’s Open Gate program, is located at the Benedictine Monastery just north of Pecos. A layer of ice has formed on the lake, prompting the closure.

The closure will be lifted when there are sufficient open areas of water available to allow fishing from the bank.

Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort Celebrates 73rd Year

SIPAPU SKI News:

VADITO — Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort will celebrate its 73rd year with a big birthday present – the opening of Lift 3, a two-person chairlift that replaces a 47-year-old vintage surface lift.
