Bandelier Seeks Public Input on Management of Tsankawi Unit

BANDELIER News:

Bandelier National Monument is initiating a planning effort to improve resource protection and visitor understanding of the unique Tsankawi Unit.

The resulting decisions will provide guidance and direction for managing visitor safety, accessibility and resource protection for the next 10 years.

The New Mexico Search and Rescue Council Announces Annual Search and Rescue Conference.

Bandelier  National  Monument  has  announced that the park is initiating a 30-day  scoping  period,  from  April  16, 2012 to May 15, 2012, as part of planning  to  improve  resource protection and visitor understanding of the unique  Tsankawi  Unit.  The resulting decisions will provide guidance and direction  for  managing  visitor  safety,  accessibility, and natural and cultural resource protection for the next ten years.

Luján Offers Bipartisan Legislation to Address Fire Hazards in National Forests

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District introduced legislation to help protect national forests from wildfires while creating jobs in local communities.

The Forest Stewardship and Fire Fuels Reduction Act of 2012 is a 10-year reauthorization of a federal program that funds efforts to reduce overgrown vegetation in forests that contributes to the intensity and devastation of wildfires. PNM Seeks Lower Emissions Limits For San Juan Generating Station

Albuquerque: PNM today requested changes to the New Mexico air permit for San Juan Generating Station to allow for the installation of new visibility controls at the plant in the next several years.
